"Haymarket dominates classical music magazine publishing in the UK, and we’re increasing our influence internationally.

In the UK, the combined sales of Gramophone, the world’s most respected classical music magazine, and Classic FM magazine, published in association with the radio station, give us 63 per cent of the market.

Haymarket presence extends still further through major events such as the annual Gramophone Awards, which have a significant effect on sales of the winning recordings. The glittering Awards ceremony attracts a Who's Who of the classical music world.

Gramophone regularly partners with many of the planet’s leading arts organisations and broadcasters, while Classic FM magazine’s monthly cover-mounted CD attracts a host of blue chip sponsors.

Now, with bespoke US, Korean and Chinese editions, Gramophone’s international reach is also growing significantly, and we’re planning a strong presence online." ... more

online music archive
"AMP is an online music archive with a World-Wide readership. Since its inception in the spring of 1997, AMP has been visited by nearly seven million readers.

During the first two years of existence, AMP appeared on line promptly on the first day of each month. Since this is not a traditional form of print media, we did some brainstorming. Why wait a month to get news on albums, artists, and important music related information? Why not get the information while it is happening - immediately?

Instead of only being able to access a select group of articles, as in the old monthly format, we now present every interview, article, and review ever published in AMP. There are nearly 800 reviews covering the latest acoustic, ambient, bluegrass, classical, Celtic, electronica, world music, jazz, fusion, avant garde releases, and dozens of interviews with some of the most influential musician/composers of our time.

We hope that you will find this online publication useful and informative, as well as entertaining. From all of us at AMP..." ... (Ben Kettlewell, Editor)

Afropop Worldwide is a radio program, a web site, a searchable database, an international musical archive, and a team of dedicated researchers. “Afropop” is also now used as a general term to describe popular African music.

The program is still the standard for both the curious and the connoisseur, and takes listeners to dynamic music capitals such as Dakar, Senegal; Johannesburg, South Africa; Cairo, Egypt; Havana, Cuba; Salvador de Bahia, Brazil; New York and Paris. Listeners meet the leading stars as well as emerging artists. Live concert recordings of world-class artists such as Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Cesaria Evora, Gilberto Gil, Baaba Maal, Kanda Bongo Man and others are featured on the program. (...)

Our vision is to increase the profile of African and African Diaspora music worldwide, and to see that benefits from this increased profile go back to artists, music industry professionals, and the countries that produce the music..." more

"There are many books and Web sites that recommend classical music recordings, but these sites are so comprehensive as to be intimidating to the beginner, and there is no single resource a beginner can use to determine the first few classical CDs he or she should buy. Classical CD Guide.com was created in 2004 to fill this void. I wish that this site had existed when I started buying classical music CDs, and I hope that it proves helpful to those who take the time to visit it. (...)

The Reason For This Site
Classical music has greatly enriched my life, and I want to share with others the joy that classical music has brought to me. But getting started in classical music is often intimidating for the beginner. Most books and other Internet guides list hundreds of pieces and are filled with technical jargon, making them of little value to the novice. At its worst, classical music can seem difficult, snobbish, and inaccessible. But it doesn't have to be this way.

I created this guide to give beginners a straightforward introduction to classical music and its recordings. No other high-quality guide available on the Internet offers explicit recommendations for the first twenty CDs to buy. These recordings form the foundation of my and many others' collections, and contain some of the greatest performances ever committed to record. The remainder of the site is an extension of the two central lists, the Top 10 and Top 20 CDs. People who discover music they like on these two lists can find similar pieces in the Composers, Eras, or Genres sections. With more than 150 CDs representing dozens of different composers, the site has enough material to make anyone an expert. By the time you've exhausted these lists you will know both what composers and what works you love and how to find the best recordings." ... more
"The Classical Net web site offers a comprehensive collection of information and news on classical music subjects including articles and CD/SACD/DVD reviews, composers and their music, the basic repertoire, recommended classical music recordings and a CD buying guide.

Though classical music appeals to many people, the diversity, complexity and even the mystique of "Classical Music" can be rather intimidating. Granted, there is much to know, and much to learn, concerning this music (many people have devoted their lives to studying obscure facets of musicology), but the encouraging thing about this art form is that you can enjoy what you are hearing without knowing exactly why.

So, while detailed study, investigation, reading, whatever, may perhaps enhance the enjoyment of the music even further, a scholarly approach is fundamentally not required. All that is necessary is a desire to explore and discover new musical territory. The classical music genre is rich enough to provide a lifetime of wonder and surprises, and a nearly limitless potential for discovery makes the journey well worth the effort..." more

Classical Net features more than 8200 files including more than 5600 CD, SACD, DVD and Book reviews and over 5500 links to other classical music web sites.
