The Biomass Energy Foundation

does research on alternative fuels and ways to produce them that are cleaner, safer, and more sustainable. We use biomass to develop fuels from dried fruit pits, vegetable oil, wood, even coffee grounds. The fuels can be used in diesel automobiles. They also can run generators that will free individuals and families from the electric grid. The Biomass Energy Foundation is a group of scientists and citizens. It is a private foundation dedicated to perfecting and implementing technical solutions to meet a significant portion of the world s coming fuel needs. BEF focuses on proven technology that will make a difference in the near term. more

The SUPERGEN Biomass and Bioenergy Consortium
aims to provide a recognised focus for UK biomass and bioenergy activities that unites key stakeholders and academia through leading edge research in renewable energy "

SUPERGEN Bioenergy will continue to carry out excellent research into all steps in the bioenergy chain from production of biomass to delivery of a useful and valuable energy product, such as power, heat, and transport fuels. Biomass is any plant material which can be used as a fuel, such as energy crops, wood, agricultural waste and vegetable oils. Biomass can be burned directly to generate power, or processed to create gas or liquids to be used as fuel for production of power, transport fuels and chemicals. Biomass currently accounts for just 0.43% of the UK's energy, but it is seen as one route to meeting EU targets for reduction of CO2 emissions and increased use of renewable energy." ... more
At NEF

, our aim and values are to help people and businesses throughout the UK to reduce their carbon emissions through the use of energy efficiency measures and renewable energy sources to help combat climate change. NEF

is encouraging a better use of energy through energy efficiency measures and the use of alternative sources of energy such as renewable energy which are not damaging our environment. Our energy consumption keeps on increasing steadily. This has various detrimental effects on the environment. Today the biggest threat to us is the impact this has on the climate mainly due to the level of carbon emissions we release in the atmosphere through our energy use.NEF work closely with businesses, local authorities and other partners to develop services that will empower people to reduce their carbon emissions. We inform, provide tools and bespoke services to our clients that will have the most impact in terms of CO2 savings. In all our work we ensure there is real action to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.
"The mission of the Bioenergy Research Centers

will lie at the frontier between basic and applied science, and will maintain a focus on bioenergy applications. These Centers aim to identify real steps toward practical solutions regarding to the challenge of producing renewable, carbon-neutral energy. At the same time, the Centers will be grounded in basic research, pursuing alternative avenues and a range of high-risk, high-return approaches to finding solutions. To some degree, one key to the Centers? success will be their ability to develop the more basic dimensions of their research to a point that can easily transition to applied research. To bring the latest tools of the biotechnology revolution to bear to advance clean energy production, the Centers will be supported by multidisciplinary teams of top scientists. processes to develop new, more efficient methods for converting the cellulose in plant material into ethanol or other biofuels that serve as a substitute for gasoline..." The European Biomass Association

is a non profit Brussels based international organisation whose mission is to represent bioenergy at EU level. Biomass refers to renewable energy coming from biological material such as trees, plants, manure, and sometimes waste. Using various transformation processes such as combustion, gasification, pyrolysis the biomass is either transformed into biofuels, bioheat or bioelectricity and used for energetic purposes. The main goal of AEBIOM is to promote the production of biomass as well as its application throughout Europe. AEBIOM is spreading a message that a wider use of biomass will bring tangible benefits in the fields of energy, materials, agriculture, forestry, environment and employment... more
