The Total Transformation ProgramMr. John A. Kopec

"Mr. John A. Kopec, co-author of two Colt books, "A Study of the Colt Single Action Army Revolver" and "Colt Cavalry & Artillery Revolvers", has been informally associated with the Colt Firearms Company since the early 1970’s when he was actively researching Colt’s historical records along with his "partners" Mr. Ron Graham and the late C. Kenneth Moore. This led to the publication in 1976 of “A STUDY”. This book is now in its fifth printing. Later Mr. Kopec became Colt’s first exclusive factory distributor of Colt Single Action parts. Some sixteen years ago this business was sold.

In 1994 the second book, "Colt Cavalry & Artillery Revolvers" was published, co-authored with renowned Custer historian Dr. H. Sterling Fenn. Today John is still actively engaged in the authentication of the U.S. military Colt Single Action revolvers. His expertise in this field is today accepted as authoritative within the Colt collecting fraternity." ... more

US Fire arms Mfg. Co."(Hartford, CT) July 1, 2002. . . United States Fire Arms has maintained a passionate dedication to traditional designs and historically accurate detail.

In fact, the single action fire arms now produced in the old Colt factory in Hartford, CT are mechanically identical to those produced there nearly 150 years ago. According to Douglas F. Donnelly, founder of United States Fire Arms, ". . . we can refine the single action designs once produced by Sam Colt, Smith & Wesson and others by improving the manufacturing process."

The use of high-grade forged steel and bar stock together with the most advanced machine tools result in closer tolerances, hence a better fit. All components are produced in the Hartford facility, then hand-assembled and finished.

This integration of technical and human resources results in something more than a mere reproduction or high-quality replica.

Each gun is an original piece of work based on a traditional design. Equally important, the gun is more reliable and far more accurate than its historical predecessors." ... more

The Kentucky Rifle Association logo
childbirth.org"The Kentucky Rifle Association is a non-profit corporation organized to establish a permanent international organization for promotion of the pleasure and recreation of its members interested in the collection and preservation of the Kentucky Rifle, Kentucky Pistol and related accoutrements.

The Kentucky Rifle Association is dedicated to the heritage of the Kentucky Rifle.

Researchers generally agree that the Kentucky rifle was born in Pennsylvania. Why, then, is the gun called the "Kentucky" rifle? Why is the Kentucky Rifle Association bent on keeping things that way?

The term "Kentucky Rifle" first appeared, in print, in a victory song soon after the American defeat of the British in the Battle of New Orleans. In the song reference was made to "The Kentucky men and their Kentucky rifles." The rifle was used almost exclusively in that battle by the militia from Kentucky and Tennessee under Andrew Jackson.

The name therefore, goes back over 150 years. It was born in battle, honorably, and in defense of our young and struggling nation - the United States of America.

Forged in the heat of battle, the name is covered with glory. This should be enough! But there is more. The name, through long association, conjures up a mental image of the rifle. Say "Kentucky rifle" and people know what you are talking about. Say anything else and you have to explain!

The Kentucky Rifle Association believes that this important and romantic piece of American history is properly named. Early in the Association's life, therefore, the preservation and perpetuation of the name "Kentucky rifle" was adopted as one of its objectives." ... more
