Commander Premier Aircraft Corporation
"For more than a decade, one company has continually delivered on its promise to create aircraft and programs that set new standards for quality and customer satisfaction. That company is Commander Aircraft.

Commander enters the new century as the leader in high performance single engine aircraft, and we are proud to announce the intoduction of the Commander 115 series of high performance single engine aircraft.

The Commander 115 series is the latest of a thoroughbred line of aircraft that offer the ultimate combination of performance, comfort, safety, and utility, and has become recognized as the Mercedes of the single engine fleet." ... more
six cylinder Lycoming IO-540-T4B5 of the commander 115
"A Lycoming IO-540-T4B5 fuel injected, air-cooled, six cylinder, normally aspirated engine rated for 260 HP at 2,700 RPM powers the 115 and 115AT, and a Lycoming TIO-540-AG1A turbocharged engine rated for 270 HP at 2,575 RPM powers the 115TC. The engine is equipped with dual magnetos with gear-driven independent drives, shielded harness assemblies, radio shielded spark plugs, and two independent vacuum pumps. TBO is 2000 hours for either engine. The cowl is easily removed for quick access to the engine compartment for routine maintenance.

Engine Instruments
Engine instruments are located in the center of the instrument panel and provide the means for monitoring the operation and condition of the engine. Instruments include the tachometer, manifold pressure gauge, fuel flow/fuel pressure gauge, cylinder head temperature, EGT and oil pressure/oil temperature indicator. These instruments are electrically operated." ... more
McCauley Commander 115 propeller
"Propeller

The Commander is equipped with a McCauley, all-metal, three-bladed, constant speed propeller which is 77 inches in diameter. Each prop is dynamically balanced, and the three-bladed design reduces noise and vibration.

Induction System
Induction Ram Air for the engine enters through a duct in the front baffle of the engine where it is routed to the induction air box and filter before entering the engine. The induction air box also has an alternate air passage to bypass the filter if needed." more
Commander 115 Interior
Visibility
The Commander has a generous windshield and four extra-large windows providing panoramic visibility for both pilot and passengers. Greater visual capability provides occupants with an added margin of safety in all flying environments. Over-the-nose visibility is also increased compared to other high performance singles, providing pilots with plenty of room to spot visual cues during critical phases of flight.

Seats
Commander seats are big, luxurious and strong. All frames are constructed of welded steel. Layers of variable density foam are covered with wool or leather, providing maximum seating comfort during extended flights. Seat backs recline up to 30º for greater comfort, and all seams are double and T-stitched in stress areas. Commander seats are generally acclaimed as the finest in their class, providing unparalleled comfort and support.

Sound Suppression
Designed by Commander Premier acoustical engineers, the unique five-layer insulating process helps reduce cabin noise to a minimum. The first layer is of acoustical foam with an aluminum foil backing. The second layer is of a microlite insulation material. The third layer is acoustical foam in the thickness most effective for sound and vibration reduction. The fourth layer consists of flame-retardant, thermoplastic material. The fifth layer is the interior fabric, which absorbs reflected sound and provides a luxurious look and feel to the occupants. Interior materials form an effective sandwich to reduce noise and vibration. All materials meet FAR Part 23 requirements.

First Class Comfort
Each seat position is equipped with a stereo/intercom station, an overhead reading light, overhead fresh air vent and control, and a floor fresh air/heat outlet and control. This arrangement allows each passenger to individually control his or her environment for optimal comfort. more
Commander 115 Avionics
Instrument Panel
Instrument panel layouts are professionally designed for individual aircraft. There is ample space to install a variety of avionics equipment, including full copilot instruments. Engine gauges are located in a highly-readable vertical stack, independent of one another. The configuration is much like larger turbine aircraft, making critical gauge scanning easier for the pilot. All engine instruments have transducers instead of the wet lines in the cockpit design of many other aircraft. The instrument gauge cluster is front-mounted for easy access behind the panel. All switches and circuit breakers are grouped by function, and circuit breakers are pullable and resettable. Night lighting is provided by a variable intensity backlighted flood system. A complete selection of communications and navigation equipment is available.

Flight Instruments
Basic flight instruments include a magnetic compass, airspeed indicator, altimeter (with encoder), rate of climb (VSI) indicator, an electrical turn and bank indicator and a dual vacuum operated artificial horizon (attitude indicator) and directional gyro. The primary flight instruments are configured in the standard "TEE" configuration, simplifying pilot scanning. Various combinations of other instruments and communications/navigation equipment can be customized for purchaser preferences to provide the airplane with day and night VFR/IFR capabilities. New Commanders will also be offered with the Chelton FlightLogic® EFIS. more
Commander 115 serie
"Commander aircraft were originally designed and manufactured by Rockwell International, a leading aerospace and defense company. The Rockwell military engineering mind set that produced the P51 Mustang, the F86 Sabrejet, the F100 Super Sabre, and the B1 Bomber clearly shows in the design of the Commander. The original models, the Commander 112 series, were subsequently updated by Rockwell with the introduction of the Commander 114 and 114A.

The Commander 114B was developed and produced by Commander Aircraft Corporation and features a series of aerodynamic, systems, avionics, and cabin improvements. The 114B received a new Type Certificate from the FAA in 1992, and the turbocharged 114TC received a new Type Certificate from the FAA in 1995. To obtain the new type certificates, the Commander 114B and the Commander 114TC had to comply with the newer FAA safety requirements under FAR Part 23 (through amendment 7). The Commander 115 series is the latest of a thoroughbred line of aircraft that offer the ultimate combination of performance, comfort, safety, and utility, and it has become recognized as the Mercedes of the single engine fleet.

The Commander 115 represents the culmination of a multitude of improvements to the Commander line and features numerous airframe, engine and systems refinements, as well as significantly increased range capability and upgraded avionics packages. In addition to a full line of conventional avionics, offering significant purchaser ability to customize avionics selections, CPAC will offer the Commander with the advanced, Chelton Electronic Flight Information System." ... more
